Months ago in July I had created a post entitled "Why It's Okay to Feel Lost" with the help of my friend Van. Amidst the whirlwind that has been this semester, I almost entirely forgot about those thoughts until just now. It's strange the way time works. C.S. Lewis was not lying when he said, "It's funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different."
I shot these photos on a family visit in Virginia, during which most of the weekend was spent catching up on the past few months. Thinking back on our conversations about graduating, work, and travel, I am realizing that this feeling of being lost from the summer is now nothing but a distant memory.
Undoubtedly this year has been one of change, both in my favor and not. What I can say now is that I feel more sure of myself than at any other point in 2015. More than ever before I have spent the past few months focused on myself. My roommates often joke that I am married to my work, but for now I can't say I mind. This sense of individualism has fostered strength, both in myself and in my relationships with other people.
I am in no professional position to give life advice, but I can say that feeling lost is just more reason to get moving. Though time won't stop for anyone, you can control what you do with it. Hustle, even when you don't know what you want. I have no doubt you'll find it along the way.
PS. Stay tuned for this weekend's post to find out where I'm spending the upcoming holiday!
It's like being trapped in a labyrinth; you're not getting out unless you get moving, so I think you've made a very accurate reasoning there, Christina. i'm glad you're surer and clearer of 2015 now, it's absolutely wonderful for you, and if I'm to pitch in, I'd say 2015 has been a bit of a muddled up maze for me to, but I've recently just acquired a fresh pair of eyes to put things into perspective.
ReplyDeleteCheers to 2016, and cheers to getting that coat for Christmas (;it's gorgeous!)!

Its hard not to reflect on the past when reaching the new year. I too felt lost earlier this year, and although I haven't got everything figured out (I don't think I'll ever truly will), at this time I like to try and focus on all the possibilities that the new year brings. c:
ReplyDeleteAnyway Christina, I hope you have an amazing holiday and a happy new year. I can't wait to see all your new looks and posts in 2016!!
