Seaside Secrets
Friday, April 29, 2016
There is a wooden staircase behind St. Lucia's Cap Maison resort that leads down to a rocky seaside escape. Waves crash at your feet as you stand on the small stretch of sand just below the cliff. Look up and you'll find a private deck made for a romantic dinner over the sea. Travel down and you'll find a semi-natural dipping pool carved out of the rock you stand on.
Quiet escapes like this make St. Lucia more than your expected Caribbean vacation. There is adventure everywhere, as long as you are willing to leave your poolside lounge chair to find it. It was only fitting that I channeled some safari vibes with this olive romper for this moment of exploration.
Wedding Guest Attire: Caribbean Cocktail
Tuesday, April 26, 2016
Love was in the air this weekend as I attended a beautiful wedding on the Caribbean shores of St. Lucia. With palm trees swaying behind the newlyweds as they gave their vows under the beaming sun, the setting could not have been more perfect.
Get ready for a burst of summertime here on Looks by Lau, as the next few posts will feature my vacation outfits against the stunning landscapes of St. Lucia. First stop: wedding guest attire.
Day Trips From Lisbon: Sintra & Cabo da Roca
Wednesday, April 20, 2016
Lisbon was my favorite stop along my recent European journey for more reasons that the city itself. Less than an hour away are small but incredible towns that couldn't be farther from the urban lifestyle. If you're looking to experience all the magic Portugal has to offer, don't miss these unique day trips from the capital city.
Fringe

Is it too early for white dresses? I sincerely hope not. I love dress season because it means throwing on one piece of clothing and calling it a day. Just one dress can speak for an entirely unique outfit, and this Her Velvet Vase piece is no exception.
Spring Blues
Thursday, April 14, 2016
Literally, though. I'm going to have the blues if warm weather doesn't arrive here soon. Until then I'll be stocking up on spring dresses in hopes that winter will finally leave for good.
With the temperatures slowly climbing towards those of true springtime, I've started layering my favorite dresses for some fresh office looks. In this case, that means out with the winter blacks and in with the spring blues (navy counts, right?).
Oxford, England
Tuesday, April 12, 2016
This is no ordinary college visit. As the oldest university in the English-speaking world, Oxford is far beyond any school you have seen before (but I'm sure you knew that from Harry Potter). If you ever find yourself in London, take the day trip to this grand university city and walk in the footsteps of some of the greatest scholars in history.
There is so much to be learned on a trip to Oxford, with my favorite stop being the non-photographable Bodleian Library (Harry Potter fans will also recognize this). Even without one of the many tours, you can easily find yourself simply admiring the elegant, quintessentially English architecture. Today I'm sharing a few snippets from our day trip to what is perhaps one of the most fascinating cities in England.
The Trouser Transition
Sunday, April 10, 2016
It's funny to think that not long ago skinny jeans dominated the bottoms in my closet. Now I find myself searching for anything entirely opposite. I'm loving that pants of all widths are coming back to popularity, though I do wish I had kept those flares from past wardrobes. Is the death of the skinny jean upon us? Honestly, I'm not sure I would mind all that much.
I Turned 22 Today. Here's What I Learned In Year 21.
Thursday, April 7, 2016
This photo was taken just before my 21st birthday last year, though it's hard to believe it was just one year ago. Year 21 was perhaps one of the most dynamic of any preceding it. I traveled and lived around the world, finished college, and started my post-graduate career.
As I'm writing this on the start of my 22nd year, I've spent the day going through my gym-coffee-work routine (#adultlife). Needless to say I've transitioned into a completely new chapter of my life that both scares and excites me. I've been shaped largely by the events since my last birthday, and despite some challenges I am grateful for each one. Now on my first day of being age 22, I'm sharing 21 things I've learned since this day in 2015. Here's to being another year older!
When Winter Decides To Stay
Tuesday, April 5, 2016
Happy April! Although I'm not sure that New York would say the same. It has been a rough start to spring here in the Northeast, with temperatures remaining reminiscent of those back in December.
Today I'm dropping in with a quick outfit post for those of you who are still experiencing winter's leftovers. To be honest, I am more than ready to store away my heavy coats and chunky layers. There are breezy dresses in my closet just waiting to be worn. For the time being, I've brought out my blue jeans and faux snakeskin booties to bring some life to my over worn winter wardrobe. Let's hope this touch of freshness signals some true springtime weather!
Comfort First
Sunday, April 3, 2016
I commend the New Yorkers who go about their days in three-inch heels and mini skirts. I am certainly not one of them. Now that lower heels and loose-fitting bottoms are moving towards the peak of the trend curve, I'm using every opportunity to keep comfortable in my everyday outfits.
The Beauty of Burano
Friday, April 1, 2016
It is almost unfair that Italy's Venetian Lagoon could be home to more than just the iconically dreamlike city of palaces and canals. If you ever find yourself wandering through the stunning streets of Venice, add an extra day to your itinerary to explore the fantasy land that is Burano.
Just a forty minute boat ride from Venice, Burano is most notable for its lace-making and the brightest residences you will ever see. Especially if you visit during peak season, don't miss this opportunity to experience a true Italian gem without the crowds. Although you won't need much time here, I guarantee you will never forget the visit.
