The Paintbrush Effect

Pants c/o Lily White (here) | H&M turtleneck | Target heels
It's about time I add some spice to my monochrome winter wardrobe. I saw these pants on the Lily White website and knew they were the perfect pair for me. I have a growing collection of these loose-fitting pants, and this pair is just perfect for the colder months. I love how the print gives off the effect of random paintbrush strokes. It adds a fun vibe to the simple color palette.
Another perk to these pants is their ability to lengthen your legs (not literally, unfortunately). As a 5'1" girl with a longer torso, my legs could use a good illusion. I've found that if you pair loose-fitting pants such as these with heels, your legs appear to go on for miles. The best part is that you can be comfortable while doing so.
I'm hoping that all these snow-filled photos are coming to an end soon.. Spring, where are you?!
Cobalt Blue

Zara top | Forever 21 faux leather pants | Target heels | H&M necklace
Cobalt blue is always the perfect color to break up a monochrome winter wardrobe. I love how the added chiffon creates an imitation peplum detail. It makes for an interesting combination of textures in an otherwise simple top. I chose this top from last month's Zara sale because it serves as an easy transition piece from winter to spring. The boxy silhouette makes for a sense of lightness that is perfect for the (slowly) rising temperatures.
Coincidentally, I found these matching heels at Target around the same time. Despite the recent security issues, my faith in the company hasn't faded. There are always hidden gems throughout the store that I cannot resist (just use PayPal or cash!). These heels are very comfortable, especially for those who need some cute pairs for work. The heel itself isn't so high that you'll be aching by the end of the day. As much I love a sky-high pair of pumps, I need my collection of more practical heels for every day use.
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know in the comments how you're transitioning between winter and spring. Talk to you soon!
Winter Florals & Layering 101

H&M coat, jacket, & blouse | Forever 21 pants | Target heels
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably recognize this outfit from a week ago. I wore this layered look to Lucky Magazine's #LuckyInstameet, where I received a tour of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and mingled with fashion superstars such as Eva Chen, Rumi Neely, and Aimee Song. I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity, since only 15 "Instagrammers" were chosen to participate. Thanks to Mercedes Benz, I was also able to attend the Parkchoonmoo show on Sunday. She presented the most stunning outerwear - check out a video clip on my Instagram!
For this look, I wanted to create an interesting mix of prints and textures since I knew I'd have to do some hardcore layering. These pants always keep an outfit interesting with their bold print. Layering tip: Wear leggings underneath loose pants to battle the cold! On top, my layers include: a chiffon blouse, a faux suede moto jacket, and my mixed media coat with quilted sleeves. Each piece is light enough to feel comfortable, though heavy enough to stay warm when layered. I also chose a fairly simple color palette to keep a chic look despite the various textures.
I hope you are all staying warm this winter! It's definitely been a harsh one. Thanks for stopping by, and I'll talk to you soon!
P.S. - I have also worn half these pieces in previous posts. There is no shame in repeating!

Valentine's Day Dress Up || Sisterly Love

On Erin: Hailey Logan dress | Bandolino shoes (all from Macy's)
When As U Wish reached out to me to choose some pieces, my Valentine's Day lookbook plans were completed. They offer the cutest selection of dresses for any occasion! I spotted this pink strapless dress with a silver metallic overlay and immediately thought of the upcoming holiday. What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than by dressing up with your sister? I think she deserves to be in the spotlight after being an awesome photographer for all this time. Kudos to my mom for taking these photos (I know you are reading this)!
This year, we're filling our Valentine's Day with sparkle. I chose this ultra-girly dress because of the metallic lace detailing. It's been a while since I've worn a piece like this, but you're never too old to bring out a fun party dress! The subtle areas of pink also support my attempts to embrace the winter pastel trend. Since the dress is so bold, I wore a simple pair of nude heels to juxtapose it. They also lengthen my legs, which is always a plus!
What will you be doing for this Valentine's Day? Let me know in the comments below!
P.S. - Yes, we were freezing.

Winter Pastels

Zara coat & pants | Forever 21 tee | Nine West heels | Urban Outfitters sunglasses
Is it spring yet? The pastel trend for this winter has been getting me too excited for the following season. I don't know how much longer I can bear the twenty-degree weather. I'm anxiously waiting for uncovered green lawns and longer sunshine! For now, this outfit is my way of channelling the beauty of spring.
This Zara coat is a great transition piece between winter and spring. Its color is reminiscent of the warmer months, while the blanket-esque material adds bulkiness for this Northeastern chill. I like how the boxy silhouette makes the outfit a little less refined as well. Since my outerwear makes such a bold statement, I styled it with an overall simple and neutral look. I think the striped boatneck tee creates a nice contrast while maintaining femininity. I tend to embrace my girly side when the weather warms up, so think of this as a sneak peek.
Let me know what you think of the pastel trend for winter! Thanks for stopping by :)

Target faux leather cap | Zara sweater & pants | Forever 21 heels
Leave it to Target to sell the perfect faux leather cap at an affordable price ($15). I started getting into the sporty-chic look last summer, so I wanted to translate the trend into winter. This cap merges elements of sport and fashion, and it is easy to wear on a casual day. I seriously have a weakness for almost anything in faux leather.
I'm sure you've noticed I have another weakness for Zara. This is yet another all-Zara look... sorry! I purchased this sweater from their winter sale because it can be worn at several times throughout the year. Being in New York, I usually only experience heat in from June-August. Since this sweater is lightweight, it's a piece I can style throughout the chillier remainder of the year. I will definitely be styling it with shorts once the weather hits the 70s! It's an easy piece to wear because you can rely solely on the graphics. No jewelry or accessories needed. The "jersey" number and racing stripes are enough to give your outfit an overall vibe.

Two-Toned Denim

H&M booties | Zara sweater, jeans, & earrings
Hi there! I hope you are having a lovely weekend. I came home to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family - bring on the home-cooked meals and red envelopes! Fortunately, the weather was also much better compared to this past week. It's crazy how warm 40-50 degrees can seem, all thanks to the polar vortex.
Today I styled even more pieces from my Zara winter sale haul. I especially love how these jeans have been enhanced with a two-toned detail. They make it easy to wear a simple outfit and still stay unique. I paired them with this marled, boxy sweater with a contrast-colored turtleneck. I like how both pieces create a mix of shades of blue. To dress this casual look up a bit, I added these statement earrings that I received as a Christmas gift. It's been a while since I've worn anything other than studs, but I think I'm liking this change. A statement piece of jewelry can make all the difference to an outfit!
Thanks for stopping by, and I'll talk to you later this week! Happy February!
