My City Essentials

With the new semester in full gear, my days are usually spent running around the city to keep up with my calendar's demands. Between constant subway rides and the occasional lazy girl Uber call, I have collected a solid group of everyday essentials to make these city commutes bearable.

1. The Perfect Playlist. Nothing is worse than having to drown in your thoughts on a silent subway ride. I like to make sure my playlist is up-to-date with my favorite songs of the moment. I've also made an upgrade from my flimsy earpieces to wireless Bluetooth headphones to keep everything conveniently hands-free and comfortable for those long rides.

2. A Sturdy Backpack. Between work, school, and blogging, it is not unlikely for me to carry what seems like an entire closet in my bag. Call me Mary Poppins, but a girl needs to be prepared for any given situation (a.ka. any random opportunity to take photos). For this reason, I rely on two neutral backpacks to balance the weight and carry all my essentials hands-free.

3. Layers On Layers. We're just about at that time when the weather takes shifts between freezing and sweltering on an hourly basis. The only way to combat this, along with that intense office air conditioning, is with proper layering. I have especially depended on this duster coat since my Shanghai days because it offers the perfect amount of warmth for the transitional season and conveniently matches almost any outfit.

    First of all, I need say how on-point your outfit in these photos is. I'm loving those booties! These are pretty much the same essentials as mine. I never leave my house without my headphones and a great playlist, because I'd literally die out of boredom on my way back home. Needless to say, my bag is always heavy as I'm carrying everything with me, just in case I need something along the way and I never bother to take anything out... You never know when something might be of a good use to you. Or maybe I'm just a hoarder, I still haven't figured that part out.
