Cheers to Seventeen Years

To my not-so mini-me, happy birthday.

My sister Erin turns 17 today, only reminding me how quickly time passes as we get older. By the end of this school year, my college career will be ending as hers will just be beginning. It consistently surprises me that despite this age gap, my sister understands herself more than many at my age. She rarely questions her beliefs and goals. She has values that even the most powerful forces could not override. And she does it all with a carefree attitude that often balances out my neurotic older sister tendencies.

I can't thank my sister enough for being my photographer, travel companion, personal psychologist, and above all, my best friend. It has been a fabulous seventeen years so far, and I have no doubt it will only go up from here (especially now that it's her turn to drive us around). Cheers!
