Dressing Up Basics

Tee: c/o East & Lo
Skirt: ASOS Petite (similar)
Heels: Call it Spring (similar here)
Shades: Nordstrom BP. (old)

A striped tee is one of the most essential basics for any wardrobe. It is not biased in terms of style and can be dressed up or down for any occasion. In this case, I took on the challenge of dressing up this East & Lo piece with a trend I typically shy away from -- the midi skirt. Especially in its pleated faux leather material, this skirt makes a statement that normally would not complement my 5'1" height. A basic striped tee like this is perfect for balancing a louder piece that might be outside your comfort zone. For me specifically, it adds simplicity on top to keep the skirt from overwhelming my frame.

In case stripes aren't your thing, East & Lo offers a wide selection of quality basics that will last through all those repetitive wears. I especially love that this top is stretchy and loose-fitting to allow for easy styling. Check out their site here and let me know which is your favorite piece!
