Monochrome Summer

Top: Zara (here)
Bag: Forever 21 (similar here)
There's something about the sight of palm trees that instantly lifts my mood. As an East Coast girl, I always see them as the first indications of paradise. It is no surprise that I've been embracing the trend towards palm tree prints this summer. I can just imagine Meryl Streep scoffing and saying, "Palm trees? For summer? Groundbreaking." Nonetheless, I can't resist wearing the quirky but classy print.
This top is meant to be purchased with the matching midi skirt, but lately I've been trying to buy clothing that I know I will wear countless times. In this case, I knew that I would only wear the midi skirt for very specific occasions because of my height (or lack thereof). I paired this crop top with a black maxi skirt instead to emphasize the print. Although this is a monochrome look, it is still fit for summer because the top gives off a subtle athletic vibe. Besides, I can't avoid my all-black looks for too long!
Cropped in Black & White

I'll admit I'm a victim of the crop top craze. As a petite girl, I love how they combine with high-waisted bottoms to instantly lengthen my legs. Today I'm styling Poof Apparel's top that features side cut-outs and faux leather detailing. When wearing a crop top, I think it's best to keep exposure in mind. You don't want to walk out in public looking partially naked. I personally always make sure that my belly button is covered and there is only a slight peek of midriff showing.
That being said, I paired this crop top with a high-waisted textured skirt that features a low flare. I think the two pieces complement each other nicely to create a simple but chic look. Because of the top's faux leather detailing, I didn't feel the need to add any accessories. There's something about a minimal look that just evokes class. Also, I hope you're not judging me for wearing these heels too often. As I've said before, there's no shame in repeating! Especially if its a piece you absolutely love.
Don't forget to visit Poof Apparel (here)! Check back on Thursday for another post :)
