This year's July 4th is no ordinary one for America. As we start up those barbecues and wait for the annual firework displays, there will be more to celebrate than the history written in our textbooks. Last week, love and freedom prevailed as the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. The patriotism nationwide rang loud and clear, especially as I ventured through the streets of New York's Pride parade. Never have I seen so many genuinely happy New Yorkers clustered into one area at once. It was beautiful.
While there are always improvements to make, our country took a giant step in the right direction that I could not be more proud to have been a part of. This weekend, wear your red, white, and blue with pride (or in my case, some Americana denim-on-denim) and celebrate like you never have before. Let's continue making progress, and go fourth.
