Montreal, Part 1: European Flair

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

There is no single word to describe Montreal. It is a city of old and new, with cultures of near and far. There is a little something for everyone, from quality culinary offerings for foodies to streets lined with wall art and galleries for the artsy types. At no surprise, I found myself most drawn to the European flair of Old Montreal.

Situated along the St. Lawrence River, Montreal's oldest area spans a few walkable blocks of cobblestone streets and early architecture merged with modern boutiques, galleries, and bistros. A walk through this area is so pleasant you almost forget you aren't actually in Paris. Even a little rain couldn't hinder its charm.

Brunch at Le Cartet. Don't be discouraged by the line outside -- the wait is well worth it!
