Huangshan... or Not?

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

This past weekend, my study abroad program hosted a trip to China's famous Yellow Mountain, also known as Huangshan. Google its name and you'll be presented with absolutely stunning views of its iconic peaks surrounded by a sea of clouds. We did not exactly see that. The day of our mountain hike was unfortunately extremely rainy and cold, which led to overwhelming views of fog above anything else. It was quite a disappointment to say the least, but definitely an experience to remember.

The best part of the trip was the opportunity to explore the areas around Huangshan. I especially loved Hong Village (pictured above), mostly for its stunning location on a lake with the mountain range towering in the background. While the trip was a slight disappointment, it has made me even more determined to return and experience Huangshan the right way. Fingers crossed!

  1. It's too bad that you experienced Huang Shan on a bad day, but I'm hoping you return and experience it again! I, myself, have never been there before, but it looks scenic already despite the cloudy weather! I'm loving all your China posts, Lau!

And also, let's not forget that beautiful bag you have on!
