We all have those moments when we look into our closets and think, "I have nothing to wear." For most of us, this is clearly not the case. I find that when I put myself into this situation, I am often over-thinking my outfits and attempting to create the most elaborate looks possible. That usually plummets into a series of unnecessary difficulties -- forgetting to pack lunch, missing the bus. Getting dressed really shouldn't be so tedious by any means.

That is what basics are for. The combination of a t-shirt and jeans may not sound all that exciting, but it always works. It can be worn for almost any occasion, from a casual day at school to a night out in the city. Today I've dressed up my basics by incorporating subtle statements. While it is still just a t-shirt and jeans, the combination of distressing, faux suede, and a bold print adds a personal touch to the look. Basic doesn't have to mean boring.
