Simple Perfections
Thursday, June 16, 2016
It's those tiny details that make any day just a little better - those simple perfections. A quiet walk down a familiar street. A vintage car sighting in your boring suburban neighborhood. That pair of jeans that hugs you in all the right places.
The Skort Secret
Monday, June 13, 2016
The evolution of a trend is a funny thing. These days it's almost as if we should have held onto our tween-age wardrobes with all the unexpected trends reemerging -- hence this skort. I know, I bought a skort. But I have no regrets.
I mention my work wardrobe at least once a week on this blog, but my shopping habits really have changed since joining the office life. Those summer days of simply buying the cutest dress on the floor are now spent debating whether that piece is corporate-appropriate. I guess that's just another part of adulting.
Admittedly I do miss wearing shorts more often than on weekends, so I went for a little customization. Technically you can wear shorts to work if no one actually sees them, right? For all my fellow working ladies, try pairing long outerwear over a skort for an office look that is secretly ready for whatever the evening brings. Looks like everyone's favorite tween trend came in handy.
Maxi on Minetta
Friday, June 10, 2016
You know those outfits that make everyday sidewalks feel like runways? This was definitely one of them. At my (lack of) height I've found the trick to buying maxi dresses without the extra cost of tailoring -- taking advantage of the midi.
In my world, midi skirts become maxis and cropped jeans become full length. Isn't style all about personalization after all? I fell in love with the draping of this midi gem and the way it moves with each step. Plus, any dress I wear that doesn't drag on the ground is a win in my book.
I spent a recent evening in this dress strolling the streets of West Village with my boyfriend, all the while resisting the urge to twirl around like a girl in a rom-com. Style is best when it is met with confidence.

In My Mules

It's safe to say that yellow is not a common color in my closet. Honestly, any color is not exactly common in my closet. I'm not sure what came over me when I purchased these mules, but I can't say I regret ignoring my monochrome tendencies for a moment.
I found myself rotating between the same black/nude sandals every day and yawning at the lack of excitement. Shoes should make the statement, right? People say it's all in the details, and I've fully embraced that idea in this look. With just a touch of fringe and a pop of color, office attire meets summertime ease. Recycling my favorite striped top just got a little more fun.
The Steel City
Thursday, June 2, 2016
It was an unlikely Memorial Day destination, but an unexpectedly pleasant one nonetheless. My family and I spent the recent holiday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, an underdog city that is slowly rising above its label as simply The Steel City.
"Lovely" may not be the first word to describe Pittsburgh, but our experience there absolutely was. There is a sharp contrast between New York's bustling streets and Pittsburgh's quiet neighborhoods. Below the skyscrapers you will rarely find crowds of people, though not one moment felt unsafe or eerily quiet. Read on for just a few reasons why this up-and-coming city has been considered one of the most livable in America.
Falling Water

Here's to the start of summer! Memorial Day Weekend always feels like the gateway to the year's sunniest season. While most families head to the beach for a long weekend getaway, mine decided to keep things low key this year with a road trip into Western Pennsylvania.
