A Quiet Weekend in Ningbo

Thursday, May 7, 2015

Outerwear: Zara (similar) | Top: H&M | Shorts: Taobao (similar here)
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar) | Bag: H&M | Sandals: Forever 21

Just two hours away from Shanghai is the lovely area of Ningbo, a rising commercial competitor that has been in existence for longer than most Chinese cities. From a traditional ancient street to large-scale entertainment centers, the city shows a clear willingness to merge history with modernization. As always, I was on a hunt for the quiet escapes within the city, and I was not disappointed.

Pictured above are some of my favorite spots from this weekend trip, with the first being Dongqian Lake. As the largest freshwater lake in its province, this area offers stunning views from all angles. The day we visited was especially gloomy, but the lake somehow remained beautiful as ever. Another favorite was the Old Bund, which once oversaw Ningbo's international trade. Compared to Shanghai's famous Bund, this is smaller in scale with a much more quaint atmosphere. Since this area really only comes alive at night, we were able to truly enjoy the architecture by day. We finished our day on the Old Bund with a waterside brunch, the perfect conclusion to a peaceful weekend trip.
